FLYING
The local airport is Kalamata (sometimes this is listed under Peloponnese or Stoupa) which is about 80 minutes drive from Aghios Nikolaos village.
Direct Flights to Kalamata from the UK leave on Saturdays and Sundays from Gatwick and Manchester airports.
For 2010 Aegean are running internal flights Athens to Kalamata, this year. You will be able to catch an early morning flight in London and pick up an Aegean flight in the early afternoon. Look at their website www.aegeanair.com
Flights into Athens with BA, Easyjet or Aegean leave from Heathrow and Gatwick and some other UK airports.
Athens is a four hour drive but, again, we can help you arrange a safe, english-speaking taxi pick up - about 300 Euros, one way - or you may prefer to hire a car (which is alot cheaper!) and take your time over the beautiful journey down...... perhaps taking in some of the ancient sites on the way or picking up some wine in Nemea. The hire car option is cheaper.
Europcar, Avis and Hertz as well as others, are all to be found at Athens airport. Just double check that they are still operating if you have a flight arriving after 9pm and before 7am.
We can also recommend the new Sofitel hotel at Athens airport if you come in during the evening. It is quiet, has comfortable rooms, not hugely expensive and has two good restaurants. There is the added advantage of collecting your hire car the following morning; the hotel is two minutes walk from the airport and the hirecar desk about 3 minutes.
Hire cars are available at Kalamata airport or we can give you a local taxi number. You don't need a car to enjoy your holiday at Spitaki.
There is a car hire company locally too, so if you just want a few days' hire to sightsee further afield, that is also easily organised.

Thomson, Mark Warner, First Choice and Sunvil also sell flight only into Kalamata usually available within about 4 weeks of your departure date. Look at brochures with holidays in Stoupa for contact numbers.
DRIVING
You might like to drive from home, especially if you live in mainland Europe. Ferries go from Ancona or Venice to Patras, in the north western Peloponnese, which is then an easy 3 hour drive to Aghios Nikolaos. You might like to look at the website of the Greek shipping line, Minoan who have well-kept ships with deluxe cabins ensuite. Email them for a quote
