The local airport is Kalamata (sometimes this is listed Peloponnese) which is about 40 minutes drive from Aghios Nicolaos village. Flights to Kalamata from the UK leave on Wednesdays and Sundays from Gatwick, East Midlands, Manchester and Birmingham airports. Flights into Athens with Easyjet leave from London Luton and Gatwick. Athens is a four hour drive but, again, we can help you arrange a safe, english-speaking taxi pick up - about 140 Euros, one way - or you may prefer to hire a car and take your time over the beautiful journey down...... perhaps taking in some of the ancient sites on the way or picking up some wine in Nemea. The hire car option is often cheaper. We can also recommend the new Sofitel hotel at Athens airport if you come in during the evening. It is quiet, has comfortable rooms, not hugely expensive and has two good restaurants. There is the added advantage of collecting your hire car the following morning; the hotel is two minutes walk from the airport and the hirecar desk about 5 minutes. Hire cars are available at Kalamata airport or we can give you a local taxi number. You don't need a car to enjoy your holiday at Spitaki.
